EBC Trek or Photo Tour
Everest Base Camp Trek or Tour (12 days)
This classic trek follows in the footsteps of many Everest summiteers. It is the most popular trek in the Solu Khumbu: a wonderful combination of stunning views and an insight into a fascinating culture. It is also a tough physical challenge which only serves to heighten your appreciation of the local people and their way of life. Indeed, many trekkers are overwhelmed by the friendliness of these people and take home many happy memories of their generosity. The price includes one night at our hotel at the beginning & at the end of your trek.
If you choose to participate in the Photo Tour you will capture it all of this classic route with the help of your experienced photo tour guide. The price includes everything included in the trek itself.
Your journey with us begins with the exciting 30–40 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. If you can, sit on the left side of the plane, which affords the best views of the Himalaya.
At Lukla you will be met by your guide and porters who are all local Sherpas and Buddhists, which will add to your insight of their customs and culture.
Your trek begins, bizarrely, by walking downhill! This is a short day to Phakding, which is just as well after all the excitement of leaving Kathmandu, flying to Lukla and your first taste of being in the Solu Khumbu! All this should ensure you sleep well.
Days 2 & 3
From Phakding it is a steep walk to the largest village in the area: Namche Bazaar. En route you get your first views of Mount Everest, if the weather is kind. Namche has a unique atmosphere which you will have plenty of time to enjoy as you will have an acclimatization day here. This does not necessarily mean no walking, as we will give you the option of a walk to Khunde and Khumjung on this day, which will help you acclimatize to the altitude.
From Namche we head up to Tengboche, where you can visit the largest Buddhist monastery in the region. You are sure of a warm welcome here as this is the base of our trekking agency. As a client of Tengboche Trekking , you are invited to morning and afternoon prayers at the monastery.
Be prepared for your first views of Ama Dablam, which many people consider to be the most beautiful mountain in the world!
Days 5 & 6
From Tengboche we make our way to Dingboche, where we have another vital acclimatization day. Again you will have the option to have a walk or a rest day. This time you have the opportunity to ascend Nangkartshang Gompa which has one of the best views of Ama Dablam and Makalu.
From Dingboche the trek leads to Dughla via Dusa with spectacular views of Taboche Peak and Cholatse. You continue on to Lobuche where you rest up for the final push to Everest Base Camp.
From Lobuche it’s an early start so we can arrive at Gorak Shep for an early lunch. This then allows for sufficient time to reach EBC in the afternoon and for you to soak up the atmosphere and savour having reached your goal. Then it’s back down to Gorak Shep for a well earned meal.
The next morning there will be another early rise for an ascent of Kala Pattar, which has one of the most majestic views of Mount Everest and the surrounding mountains. A quick return to your teahouse to pick up your gear, then it’s all downhill to Pheriche.
From Pheriche it’s an easy walk back to Tengboche. From here it is steeply downhill but, before long, you arrive at Phunke Tenga, which is really just a collection of lodges but serves welcoming teas and coffees. The gradient eases from here down to Namche with all its great variety of amenities.
The final day’s walking returns you to Lukla for your early morning flight back to Kathmandu the next day.
Fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu.

Please note that the above trekking times and distances are approximate.
Cloud and turbulent weather are regular phenomena along the Himalayan range. It is therefore possible that domestic flights from Kathmandu to/from Lukla may have to be delayed for a few hours or even cancelled for a day or more.
Fortunately this does not happen very often during the high seasons of March to May or September to November, but you need to plan for this possibility.
As a safeguard, we recommend that you add on a couple of extra days after your trek, before you fly from Kathmandu to your onward destination.
